Hey, Let’s Do Our 60th!

Mustangs, your Reunion Planning Committee (Jim & Dottie Barnhardt, Ed Finman, Greg Howren, Gaye Law, Tommy & Patty Norman, Chuck Richards, Nancy (Huntington) Robinson, Walton Rogers, Drew Taylor, and Joana & Ferman Wardell) have planned our 60th reunion for Saturday October 22, 2022 in Charlotte. It’ll be 4:00 - 8:00pm at Tommy and Patty Norman’s penthouse on the 10th Floor in the Morrocroft Condos near Southpark Mall (2633 Richardson Drive). If you remember, we had our 50th Friday night party there. I’ll be sending out email blasts to hold the dates and to RSVP. If you’ve not been receiving my emails, let me know yours (fwardell@bellsouth.net). It’ll cost $25.00 each, which will cover the heavy hors dourves, free wine, beer, and soft drink bar, and a bunch of tasty snacks and desserts. Bring your dancing shoes as we’ll have some Beach Music playing. Let me know if you have any questions (fwardell@bellsouth.net and 704-236-5200).

Ferman (fwardell@bellsouth.net and 704-236-5200).

Class of 1962 Donates $1000 to Myers Park Communities in Schools!

We had a little money left over from the reunion, mostly from donations from individual classmates, to donate $1000 (plus an equal corporate match) to the Communities In Schools (CIS) initiative for Myers Park High School. CIS is a program of counseling that helps keep students in school and from dropping out. It has been successful in the Charlotte schools in which it functions. MPHS does not automatically qualify for CIS funding because of its demographics, so a student-driven initiative began raising awareness and funds. We helped that effort with our donation. There is now a half-time counselor at our alma mater!
